About

A familiar face, not just a clinician

A practice that nurtures diverse communication and protects meaningful connections.

Hi, I'm Jelena!

I'm a bilingual Speech-Language Pathologist (English & Serbian), certified by the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO). I bring many years of experience working with children across variety of roles in diverse settings including daycares, children's centres, clinics, private and public schools as well as a lifetime of personal insight from growing up with a sibling with special needs. I also continue to support students at the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board.

After years working in diverse settings, I started The Angel Speech House to offer a practice where families feel seen, where therapy is evidence-based, and where family members are partners and not just observers.

I serve families across Hamilton, Stoney Creek & surrounding areas. Whether we meet in person or virtually, my goal is always the same: to help your loved one express themselves, and help you feel confident supporting them at home.

Why The Angel Speech House (TASH)?

The name The Angel Speech House (TASH) was inspired by my sister, Angela, whose name is derived from the root “Angel.” Angels are associated with compassion, guidance, protection, and care which are qualities that I strive to embody as a therapist. A house represents safety, comfort, belonging, and protection. My therapy sessions are provided in the comfort of each individual’s own home, where they feel safe, secure, and most at ease.

As someone who has a sibling with special needs, I have a personal understanding of the importance of communication, connection, acceptance, and belonging. I have learned that communication is more than simply a skill we develop; it is a way of creating, maintaining, and protecting meaningful connections with the people and world around us.

The Angel Speech House is committed to providing neurodiversity-affirming, evidence-based care that recognizes and respects each individual’s unique strengths, needs, and communication style. My goal is to create a safe and supportive space where every individual feels heard, understood, valued, and empowered to communicate in ways that are meaningful to them.

My Passions in Practice

I have a strong interest in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), especially in supporting complex communicators who benefit from tools such as communication devices, communication boards, and visual supports to help with both understanding and self-expression.

I also love working in early language intervention, supporting families in fostering their child’s language development from the very beginning. This includes building play-based skills, which are essential for social connection, imagination, and communication growth.
